CLaSS Lab director, Dr. Kelly Farquharson, has been elected as the president of the Massachusetts Speech Language Hearing Association!
If you are an SLP in Massachusetts, please consider joining MSHA!!
We are excited to announce a new publication! Written by Dr. Kelly Farquharson and Ms. Emily Wang. Emily is an SLP at Irvine Public Schools in CA. She and Kelly were paired together through the ASHA STEP Mentoring program.
We have a new publication!! This was a great collaborative piece lead by colleague, Dr. Katy Cabbage. This manuscript combines the dissertation work of Drs. Kelly Farquharson and Katy Cabbage, both mentored by Dr. Tiffany Hogan. The article is titled “Speech Perception and Working Memory in Children with Residual Speech Errors: A Case Study Analysis” and was part of a special issue in Seminars in Speech and Language (Residual Speech Errors: Causes, Implications, Treatment).
Most special about this article is that the three pseudonyms used are a memorial nod to our dear friend, Christopher Richard Norman, who passed away before he was able to finish his Ph.D.
The CLaSS Lab is partnering with Decoding Dyslexia of Massachusetts to promote awareness of dyslexia this month. On October 15th, the Zakim bridge in Boston will be lit up RED to raise awareness! Use #saydyslexia to show your support.
Last night, Dr. Kelly Farquharson paired up with Dr. Sallyann Giess to co-lead an ASHA webchat, sponsored by SIG 16 – School Based Issues. If you missed it, you can catch the transcript here!
On August 6th, we partnered with the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum as they celebrated 150 years of Alice in Wonderland! Emerson students read to children and the CLaSS lab donated 100 books. It was such a pleasure to watch families engage in book reading with their children. Thank you for inviting us! For more pictures, check out our Facebook page!!
